Welcome to Acoustic Typewriter. The goal of the show is simple: We want people to talk about writing. We do this selfishly, knowing that one of the best ways to grow as writers and readers is to learn from those who’ve spent time in the trenches. We want to honor writers by talking about their work, but we want to do so through the lens of craft and technique. Again, we’re selfish. Each week we’ll be talking with people who’ve contributed to the world of literature. Some of them will be well-established, others will be taking their first promising steps. All of them have something useful to add to the millennia-old conversation about that magical thing — the written word.
Acoustic Typewriter was founded in January, 2009 by Greg Nichols, a graduate student in the Creative Writing Program at Emerson College. As he gropes to get more comfortable behind the mic, he is grateful to have had such gracious, interesting guests. One of these days he’ll do an interview without peeking at his notes … one of these days. Much of the content on AcousticTypewriter.com was first broadcast on ETIN, Emerson College’s online, talk-only radio station. Based in Boston, the show has access to an incredible community of creative folk. That said, we have no interest in limiting ourselves geographically, or by genre or school affiliation for that matter. If there are people you’d like to hear from, if you’re a person who’d like to be heard, drop us a line. It’s only by exploring the nooks and crannies of the creative world that we can grow as artists.
